Governors Club is a Private, 27 hole golf facility located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
While Governors Club provides its members with a wide variety of amenities, golf occupies center stage within the community. Jack Nicklaus personally designed Governors Club 27 holes of golf to combine challenge and beauty.
Governors Club was incorporated on February 9, 1989. The first 18 holes of the championship course were opened on September 5, 1990. Holes 19-27, nicknamed "The Mountain" were opened four years later, on September 22, 1994.
The layout follows the natural contours of Edwards Mountain, skirting serene lakes and quiet woodlands while winding through the neighborhoods of Governors Club and wooded valleys of lush Carolina foliage.
Holes 1-18 (The Championship Course) play to 7,062 yards from the Black tees. The Gold tees measure 6,713 yards, Blue tees 6,385 yards, White tees 6,047 yards, and the red tees play to 5,271 yards. The course is a par-72 for men, and a par-74 for women.
Holes 19-27 (The Mountain Course) play to 3,335 yards from the Black tees. The Gold tees measure 3,315 yards, Blue tees 3,105 yards, White tees 2,906 yards, and the red tees play to 2,538 yards. Par for (The Mountain Course) course is 36 for both men and women.
The courses can be played in combinations of 1-18 (The Championship Course), 10-27 (Back nine of (The Championship Course) with (The Mountain Course) , and 1-9 combined with 19-27 (Front iineof (The Championship Course) with (The Mountain Course).

Unbelievable 30 mile view from 9th hole on Mountain Course. Severe topography and elevation changes adds to beauty of course. Shorter than other 18 but more challenging target golf. Houses are tucked into woods and not as visible from course as on lower 18.
